Church Life

St. John the Baptist, Knaresborough is open from early morning until dusk almost every day of the year. We welcome all who wish to do so to come in and enjoy the peace and beauty of this ancient building. Come in, stay awhile and offer a prayer for yourself or someone else. In doing so you follow in the footsteps of kings and paupers, saints and sinners, men, women and children. Yet the church is more than the building, and the community who worship here regularly invite you to join them on the journey of faith - a journey that enables us to explore God’s love for each of us.

The monthly ‘menu’ of services range from the "Second Sunday Service" - worship for people of all ages and all stages of faith - to the monthly full Choral Eucharist and monthly Choral Evensong (except for July and August). Worship at St. John’s is supported by our large and active choir, which is made up of men, with boys and girls who make up the Trebles. Worship each week is heralded by the ringing of the bells; our bell ringers continue the ancient custom of practising on Tuesday evenings.

Among our regular activities are:

The Choir
JAM - our Sunday School
Bell-ringing
Parish Ladies
Mothers' Union
